(01837) 871565. Porth Reservoir (Newquay 4 miles). Coarse fishing for bream, bag
weight to 100lb plus best fish 9lb, tench to 10lb; mixed bags of roach, rudd and
skimmers to 60lb. Permits on site.
Fishing (Sea). The coastline of Newquay provides
excellent fishing for bass, mackerel, ray, wrasse, grey mullet and garfish.
Fishing (Deep-sea and shark). Trips with rods and
tackle, etc. supplied, available from the Harbour. Also hourly mackerel fishing
trips for the family. Numerous species of fish abound off the coast of Newquay,
several record-breaking fish having been taken. Four booking offices at the
Harbour will answer all enquiries.
Football. The Newquay Association Football Club opens
its season about the middle of August, and visitors are always welcome at home
matches in the well-appointed ground off Clevedon Road. Clubhouse facilities.

Gliding. Cornish Gliding Club operates from Trevellas
Airfield, Perranporth. Excellent soaring. Club flying each weekend. Courses
throughout summer. Visiting pilots welcome. Please check flying times with club.

Rugby. Newquay Hornets Rugby Football Club opens its
season from 1st September at Newquay Sports Centre, Tretherras Road; visitors

Sailing. Newquay Sailing Club holds regular handicap
racing in the bay. Times vary according to tides. Dinghy-owners may bring their
boats, become associate members, compete in the racing and use the Clubhouse.

Sports Centre. Re-opening August 2004 after extensive

Swimming. The Harbour Sports Association runs a peak
season swimming event in the Harbour for various age groups, entry free.
Tennis. Heron Tennis Centre is a brand new centre
